The advances in Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology has enabled motion detection to be implemented in many applications for various industries. These incredibly small sensors – called accelerometers – which are barely bigger than the head of a pin, measure acceleration, motion, vibration, shock, tilt, and inclination.

Consumer

MEMSIC's family of consumer accelerometers offer customers extremely low cost motion sensor solutions for applications ranging from mobile phones/appliances to toys/games to gaming controllers to appliances. Their operation is based on our patented MEMS-thermal technology and is built using a standard CMOS process, for low cost and assurance of supply. This sensor contains no moving parts and thus eliminates field-reliability and repeatability issues associated with competitive products. MEMSIC also supports many of our consumer accelerometers with a wide range of user interface and game software applications

Automotive

MEMSIC's family of automotive grade accelerometers allow for designs from ±1g to ±70g with custom versions available above ±70g. They can measure both dynamic acceleration (e.g., vibration) and static acceleration (e.g., gravity). These low-cost accelerometers are built on a standard, submicron CMOS process with a design that is based on heat convection requiring no solid proof mass. This eliminates stiction and particle problems associated with competitive devices and provide shock survival greater than 50,000g, leading to significantly lower failure rates and lower loss due to handling during assembly and at the end customer’s field application. Because MEMSIC’s automotive accelerometers are based on a standard CMOS process, additional circuitry can easily be incorporated to produce custom versions for high volume applications. Commercial

MEMSIC’s family of commercial grade accelerometers are fabricated on a standard submicron CMOS process. Each device in the family is a complete sensing system with on-chip mixed signal processing. The family offers the choice of devices with analog outputs or digital outputs (with an integrated I2C bus) allowing devices to be connected directly to a variety of microprocessors, eliminating the need for A/D converters or timing resources. The devices can measure both dynamic acceleration (e.g. vibration) and static acceleration (e.g. gravity). MEMSIC accelerometers are based on heat convection and require no solid proof mass. MEMSIC’s solid state design leads to significantly lower failure rates in customer applications and lower loss due to handling during manufacturing and assembly processes
